About The Artist
In a nutshell…here’s me: My name is Rachel Southmayd. I think I got my very first camera when I was about 4 or 5 years old and I’ve been taking pictures ever since!
Things I like:
- Taking pictures…haha
- My AMAZING husband of 9 years and my son and daughter, I couldn’t feel more blessed by the amazing family God’s given me!
- Sewing…when I have the time, which is hardly ever
- Oldies music, and when I say “oldies” I mean 50′s and 60′s rock n’ roll…it’s a MUST for house cleaning days!
- Our families 72 gallon fish tank…I love our little fish family
- My husband’s to DIE FOR cooking! He seriously is the best…staying slim is NOT easy in my house
- Cruising on the back of my husband’s motorcycle, it doesn’t get much better!
Things I don’t like:
- Seafood…yup, not a fan.
- Naps, I need them desperately still but I can never fall asleep! I’m too busy thinking about what I SHOULD be doing so I lay there for an hour and then get up feeling like I just wasted an hour of my time!
- Animal’s with fur or hair…I know this makes me sound like a HORRIBLE person! I think I turn into a germaphobe when I’m around them though
I’m so sorry if you are a pet lover! I didn’t used to be this way and I’m not sure what changed? Maybe the fact that my husband is highly allergic to pet dander?
- Grasshoppers…I can handle snakes and spiders, but grasshoppers are so unpredictable in their movements…they freak me out a little:)
Things about me:
- My whole family has to eat gluten free
- I’m from a family of 10
- I am a believer in Christ, he is my everything! In 2006 My husband and I lost our 16 day old son to a condition called a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). It was the HARDEST thing I’ve ever gone through hands down and the only reason I am ok now, is through Jesus and His amazing grace!
I believe that a true photographer is an artist at heart, I use my camera as my medium and I approach each picture with an artist’s creativity and expression. I love to experiment and try different angles and lighting techniques in my photography. I want to give you pictures that are fresh, fun and timeless! I appreciate your interest in my photography and I hope you have enjoyed browsing through my portfolios and glimpsing the memories we have captured for so many of our cherished clients and friends. Thank you for considering Pixy Prints Photography to produce and create your very special, once in a lifetime memories! ~ Rachel
