Awbrey Glen Golf Club Wedding
I absolutely loved this wedding at the Awbrey Glen Golf Club that incorporated so many different cultural traditions! The brides family came all the way from China to celebrate and I really enjoyed learning about the Chinese wedding traditions that the couple wanted to include in their wedding day. The day started out with a Chinese Wedding Tea Ceremony that began with the bride hiding one of her (red) shoes that the groom was supposed to find and then place on her foot once he found it. The tradition (if I understand correctly) is that the bride is not ready for her wedding until her groom recovers her shoe, and places it on her foot. The groom was locked out of the house and the bridesmaids were on the inside of the house preventing him from getting in and in order for the groom to get through the door and tangle of bridesmaids to find the shoe, he had several red envelopes with small amounts of money in them that he handed out to “bribe” his way through to the shoe. Once he found her shoe, he placed it on the bride’s foot and carried her out of the bedroom and the bride and groom had tea with the brides father. After that, we all drove to the grooms parents house for the tea ceremony with them. It was important that the brides feet didn’t touch the ground until she was carried into the grooms parents house. During the tea ceremony at the grooms parents house, the grooms mother gave the bride a string of pearls that had been in the family for years and it was such a special moment to witness. When all the Chinese traditions had finished, we met back up at the Awbrey Glen Golf Club for the American wedding ceremony. The Awbrey Glen golf corse in Bend, Oregon was absolutely beautiful and the staff there was so accommodating! I’m so excited to share these preview images with everyone and cannot wait to show the rest of the images when I’m finished with them.
